Geminid Meteor Shower 2025 भारत में 13–14 दिसंबर की रात अपने peak पर रहेगा, जहां साफ और dark sky वाले इलाकों में viewers प्रति घंटा 100 से ज़्यादा shooting stars देख सकते हैं। भारत में इसे देखने का best window रात 12 बजे से सुबह 4 बजे के बीच माना जा रहा है, जब Gemini constellation आसमान में सबसे ऊपर रहता है और चांद की light बहुत कम होगी।
Geminid Meteor Shower 2025 क्या है?
Geminid Meteor Shower एक powerful yearly meteor shower है जो हर साल दिसंबर में दिखता है और इसे साल का सबसे मजबूत meteor shower माना जाता है। इसकी खासियत यह है कि इसके meteors किसी comet से नहीं, बल्कि asteroid 3200 Phaethon से आते हैं, इसलिए ये ज़्यादा bright और dense दिखाई देते हैं।

2025 में Geminid Meteor Shower की activity 4–17 दिसंबर के बीच रहेगी, लेकिन इसका main peak night 13–14 दिसंबर 2025 को होने वाला है। भारत में best viewing time midnight से pre-dawn hours यानी लगभग रात 12:00 बजे से सुबह 4:00 बजे तक रहेगा, जब Gemini ऊपर होगा और meteors की frequency सबसे ज़्यादा होगी। इस साल waning crescent moon सिर्फ करीब 25–27% illuminated रहेगा और देर से उगेगा, इसलिए sky काफी dark रहेगी और visibility बेहतर होगी।

Meteor shower देखने के लिए सबसे ज़रूरी है कम light pollution और open horizon, इसलिए hill stations, desert area और rural dark-sky zones best माने जा रहे हैं। Experts के अनुसार Mukteshwar, Kausani और Corbett region (Uttarakhand), Coorg और Western Ghats (Karnataka), Sambhar Lake (Rajasthan), Bhandardara और Lonar Crater (Maharashtra) जैसे spots से 100+ meteors per hour तक देखने का मौका मिल सकता है।

बड़े शहरों से कहाँ देखें?
अगर आप travel नहीं कर पा रहे हैं, तो भी metro cities के अंदर या पास कुछ ऐसे points हैं जहां relatively open sky के साथ Geminids देखे जा सकते हैं। Delhi में India Gate lawns और Sanjay Van, Mumbai में Marine Drive, Juhu Beach और Worli Sea Face, Chennai में Elliot’s Beach, Kolkata में Prinsep Ghat, Jaipur में Central Park और Jal Mahal viewpoint जैसे spots open horizon और comparatively dark corner देने की कोशिश करते हैं। फिर भी experts सलाह देते हैं कि असली “star-show” के लिए थोड़ा बाहर countryside या hill areas की तरफ drive करना ज़्यादा बेहतर रहेगा।
कैसे देखें – बिना किसी Telescope के
Geminid Meteor Shower को naked eye से सबसे अच्छा देखा जा सकता है, telescope या binoculars actually आपकी field of view को narrow कर देते हैं, इसलिए इन्हें avoid करना बेहतर है। आपको बस एक dark जगह, reclining chair या mat, warm clothes, thermos में गरम drink और कम से कम 20–30 minutes चाहिए ताकि eyes पूरी तरह dark-adapt हो जाएं और faint meteors भी clear दिखने लगें। Expert organizations सुझाव देते हैं कि east–north-east direction की तरफ देखना शुरू करें, लेकिन meteors पूरा sky cross कर सकते हैं, इसलिए पूरे आसमान पर relaxed gaze रखना ज़्यादा effective रहता है।

Meteor shower देखते समय normal skywatching safe है क्योंकि ये meteors atmosphere में ही burn हो जाते हैं और ground तक नहीं पहुँचते। अगर आप long-exposure photography करना चाहते हैं तो tripod, wide-angle lens और 10–20 second exposure वाले continuous shots आपकी feed पर perfect “star trails” और bright meteor streaks दे सकते हैं। Light pollution से बचने के लिए mobile torch को low brightness या red mode पर रखें और car headlights से दूर बैठें, ताकि आपके night vision पर असर न पड़े और आप real-time में ज्यादा meteors catch कर सकें।
