Allegations: Drugged, Harassed & Blackmailed

The student’s parents, who hail from Haryana, have filed an FIR alleging that their daughter was given an intoxicating cake and cold drink during a celebration orchestrated by her roommates. Furthermore, she was allegedly filmed in a compromising situation for purposes of blackmail. The FIR details ongoing harassment, beatings, and the administration’s failure to respond to urgent calls reporting the student’s desperate condition.

Institutional Response Under Fire

Despite the seriousness of the incident, Banasthali Vidyapith’s management initially failed to inform the police. Only after public outrage and the video’s circulation did officials intervene. The Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission has demanded an immediate and comprehensive investigation. District Collector Kalpana Agrawal and the police are now examining every aspect of the case, collecting statements, and reviewing possible lapses in student safety protocols.

Growing Scrutiny of University Accountability

Banasthali Vidyapith is renowned as India’s leading women’s university, but past suicides have also raised alarms about the institution’s handling of student welfare issues. The recent incident has led to renewed calls for greater transparency and more robust protection measures for students on campus.
